Knuckle tattoos look amazing, 2 months ago I decided i'd get my knuckles done. I had a design in mind, went to my tattoo artist to get it done. But here's the thing about knuckle tattoos, there's a lot of movement during healing, the skin on your knuckles are thinner too so they're more prone to blowout and fading. Therefore most artists advice getting symbols instead of words 'cause most likely it'll blowout but you'll still be able to make out the design.
During the session, i'd give the pain a 5 out of 10. I could feel the needle but it was a bearable, uncomfortable pain. But hey! Everyone's got a different pain tolerance. When I got my wrist done, it was almost painless but some find the wrist hurts like hell.
First week of healing was pretty okay, no blowouts at all. I waited 2 days for it to shrivel up, moisturize it for the rest of the week. Second week of healing however was an absolute bitch, I was in hospital and on drip. The tattoo was scabbing, there was surgical tape covering my left hand and it itched like hell. End of the week, the tape was removed.
Guess what? Small part of the scab went with the tape and the ink decided to hop on too. Cherry on top, I had a minor blowout but it ain't obvious which is a relief. I probably wouldn't schedule a touch up 'cause it'll probably end with a minor blowout and fading.
I love my knuckles, hate the blowouts. I'm laying off knuckle tattoos for now.
